To identify the offending plugin, start removing plugins from "ignored_packages" one at a time until the behavior comes back. I am using Sublime Text from over a year with perfect configurations, package combinations, themes which works best for me. If that doesn't work, take the list of all installed plugins from Packages/User/Package Control.sublime-settings and put it in your user preferences in the "ignored_packages" setting. The color scheme choices (such as Oceanic Next Dark) in particular work. The icons for each file type clearly define what the file is so there's no having to look too closely at file extensions. In the User directory, look for files named Text.sublime-settings or Markdown*.sublime-settings, then try deleting them (or renaming them to *.bak so they won't get processed). The theme cleans up the interface so that all elements in the UI are easier to find without being distracting.
